The Daytime Confidential/Pop Confidential peeps made their way back to The Morning Jolt With Larry Flick on Friday, Aug. 27, and man, woman, child was it a crazy time! In between listening to the golden oldies Larry Flick and his partner-in-snark Keith Price spin on Flashback Fridays, Luke, Jamey and Jillian fielded questions about all the biggest stories happening in soaps and the rest of pop culture. Which soap does Larry feel should have gotten the axe before As The World Turns? The answer makes the DC/PC peeps come out swinging! Has The Bold and the Beautiful really improved—as Jamey, Jillian and Luke maintain— or are they just so used to eating spam, they don't recognize steak anymore? What about the heavily-hyped return of "The Goddess" aka Vanessa Marcil Giovinazzo to General Hospital. Is the slow build working, or are soap fans' attention spans simply too fried, dyed and laid to the side for dragging out a reveal these days? In the second hour (That's right peeps, The Little Podcasters Who Could, got TWO HOURS on Sirius Radio!) Larry and Keith pick the DC/PC'ers brains about Lindsay Lohan's latest comeback possibilities, this weekend's Primetime Emmy Awards and Larry reveals he loves it when Jamey bursts out into song on podcasts. Doesn't everyone? After you listen, be sure to sign up for a free trial subscription to Sirius so you can sample this insanely funny morning show for a month! In what may be the wildest Daytime Confidential podcast episode since, well Michael Muhney (sidenote: What IS in the water in Genoa City?), Luke and Jamey welcome Christian LeBlanc aka bad boy-turned barrister Michael Baldwin from The Young and the Restless, who this Saturday night, August 28, 2010, will be hosting the hottest sketch comedy show in Los Angeles—ACME Saturday Night at the ACME Comedy Theatre (located at 135 N. La Brea Avenue in Hollywood). Honey chile, the spirits of Tennessee Williams, Faulkner and Margaret Mitchell were all circling the roof of the "DC Studios", as Luke tried to keep up with two bad ol' boys from the South! When Jamey and Christian weren't cuttin' up, talking in affected, over-the-top Southern accents about sketch comedy, the theatre, the fine art of Southern fried put downs and sugar tits, Christian managed to reveal which of his 3,745 Daytime Emmys means the most to him. He also waxed poetic about the art of transforming a dastardly soap villain into a beloved hero. But does he miss "Evil Michael"? His answer may surprise you. LeBlanc also talks about what it's like working with several of his lovely leading ladies, Tracey Bregman (Lauren), Michelle "The Staff" Stafford (Phyllis) and Lauralee Bell, who recently reprised the role of Michael's one-time stalking victim Christine "Cricket" Blair Grainger Romalotti Williams. He also discussed his thoughts on the Sarah Smythe storyline and Michael and Lauren's current scenes opposite the newly-christened Jill Fenmore (Jess Walton). Is he excited about former As The World Turns' leading lady Maura West coming to Genoa City as Michael's former co-conspirator Diane Jenkins? You'll have to download the podcast to find out. Speaking of World Turns, what are LeBlanc's thoughts on the soap where he got his start, coming to an end this September? The New Orleans native— who still owns property there— also speaks to the amazing resilience of his people, who are continuing to rebuild the Crescent City after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina five years ago. This Podcast on a Hot Tin Roof will go down as one of the most insanely-soaptasic hours Luke and Jamey have ever attempted to host. |

Soap superstar Mary Beth Evans may just be the hardest working woman in daytime. On the heels of recently reprising the role of Sierra on As The World Turns, one last time, Evans is set to return to her breakout role as Days of Our Lives' beloved Kayla this fall, but that isn't the only thing she'll be doing as the leaves begin to fall. Evans is also starring in and producing one of the most highly anticipated web soaps ever—The Bay. On today's episode of Daytime Confidential, Luke and Jamey talk with Evans and Gregori J. Martin, the prolific creator of The Bay. The enterprising duo provide a sneak peak of The Bay's dysfunction-yet-delicious core family, the Garretts, headed by socialite Sara Garrett (Evans). Evans reveals how Martin's intricately-woven back story for the characters he created hooked her on The Bay's mythology, and caused her to decide to sign on with the project. Lifelong soap fan Martin, who got his career start working in production for Another World, reveals which soap supercouples inspired and informed him in creating The Bay. Hint: One Life to Live fans just might want to tune in when The Bay premieres in five weeks! Evans also discusses in depth her storied career in daytime. From syndicated soap Rituals, to DAYS, World Turns and General Hospital, she's created memorable varied characters fans have adored. Can she do it again with Sara Garrett? After listening to this episode, we bet you'll come away hoping The Bay is as big a hit as the DC crew predicts it will be! |

Fasten your seat belts Daytime Confidential listeners. You're about to download one of our wildest podcasts ever! The Young and Restless game changer, Michael Muhney drops by to chat will Luke, Jamey and Jillian about what it was like to takeover one of the most controversial and complex roles in recent daytime history, VIctor Adam Newman, Jr. The veteran of primetime's cult hit Veronica Mars reveals what made him go out for a part on a soap in the first place, when so many actors see daytime as a "stepping stone". Muhney shares how any initial reservations were quickly snuffed out after a few days of working with such enormous talents as Eric Braeden, Eileen Davidson, Peter Bergman and others. He also spills the tea about what he believes makes Adam tick, citing Shakespearean themes and psychological underpinnings that has the DC crew wishing Muhney were not only starring in a soap, but helping to write his storyline! You'll have to tune in to hear him tell it in his own words, that is when he isn't matching the gang snark for snark and Jamey, impersonation for impersonation. |
